I remember when we took our Ridgeback pup home... it felt rather like bringing up a baby but I think babies are slightly easier, at least you know where they are all the time. He used to sit on my lap too, still used to when fully grown sometimes... when he did breathing was quite a problem, moving was impossible... he weighed around 9 stone! Sometimes they will get confused and pee somewhere else that's not the newspaper but inside the house. Just give him a command like "go potty" and when he does (give him enough time like within 20 min.) give him LOTS of praise and even a treat. He'll then start associating going outside with good things. If you ever catch him peeing in house, startle him with a loud NO and a clap, and then take him outside quickly, telling him to go potty. Lots of Praise and a treat. Lather, rinse and repeat. It will take a while but if you have carpet, its worth it. :) I would recommend having him go outside and not this newspaper business.
