Best Website, Blogs Category in 10th Philippine Web Awards is….
Posted by: Noemi in Online Culture, Site News
My blog , this blog, Touched by an Angel… Winning last year’s Best website award for Blogs Category in the 9th Philippine Web Awards was enough recognition. Tonight, I told my husband that I was attending the 10th Philippine Web Awards to give support to my friends who were in the Finalists. I told him to stay home because I wasn’t winning it this year.
But honestly. winning it again this year wasn’t as exciting as last year. I wanted my friends to win. Not that I am ungrateful. I truly appreciate the award because it means more exposure for my blog. More exposure means wider reach to readers who might find comfort with my blog entries. The prize money alone subsidizes the cost of running The Compassionate Friends , especially now that the Worldwide Candle Lighting is coming soon on December 9. Yes, a little funding goes a long way.
Congratulations to all the winners of the 10th Philippine Web Awards and pinoymoneytalk.com for winning the People’s Choice Award for Blogs.
Thank you to the organizers, Abe for taking all the lovely photos and Jayvee for cheering.

Congratulations, dearest sister! YOU deserve this award. Even if you think it isn’t exciting the second time around because you are cheering for your friends, YOU WON (thank you to the judges!) because the judges could clearly see the impact you have made on people’s lives worldwide.
Noemi, although my own efforts in encouraging more Filipinos worldwide to share their truth through their stories is now only creating some synergy, imagine if you weren’t there to inspire me to keep learning what I could do to help Filipinos give voice to their issues, concerns, achievements, and celebrations.
One of the best moments in sharing some of these nifty technology and internet tools was last November 4 in Amsterdam. This self-organized group of undocumented domestic service professionals (a.k.a. domestic workers) were hungry for more knowledge through their e-learning classeswith one of The Caucus members, Basco Fernandez. Thus, I gave them some tips about blogging and other tools for online collaborative work. Imagine if you didn’t push me to keep blogging? I would not have been able to see the light shining in these Filipinos’ eyes — knowing that they are empowered to BE A VOICE OF THEIR OWN TRUTH.
So, dearest sister, I am very grateful that you won… and I know your friends will understand. “Impacting social change through blogging” is a rough, wild-west type of destination — we might not even be around when the changes manifest — yet it is your example, through your grief support group and your “new normal,” that people like me find the courage to continue our advocacy work.
Keep up the good work, dearest sister. May there be more bloggers out there who make a positive difference even it starts with one person.
Lorna
P.S. You know I won’t be able to keep my mouth shut about this.

As I had written earlier in my blog, I said that I thought you’d win again this year. Congratulations.
Question, who won the People’s Choice for “Blogs” category? Checked the link above… doesn’t list who won for People’s Choice… unless I’m going blind.

[…] Jayvee, Nomei and I attended last Friday’s 10th Web Awards at the Promenade in GreenHills. I initially didn’t want to go as I was pissed at them telling me I didn’t RSVP to a non-existent invitation they allegedly sent two weeks ago. The guys from Globe (which was a sponsor) sent me several tickets (what, PWA was selling Php1,000 a ticket???) and Noemi convinced me so I went even if it was a little late and traffic was awful. As expected, Noemi won the Best Blog Category (again!) and James of PMT won the People’s Choice. But the luckiest guy in the room was me! I won the raffle for a new Nokia 7370. *hehehe* […]
