FamPics: Learning
Once again, it’s the first Monday of March Over at PinoyMomsNetwork, it is the day to publish FamPics. For March, the theme is LEARNING.
Dine is almost unrecognizable without her sleeveless tops but you know, we were invited to speak in front of local women leaders from different local government units nationwide such as mayors, vice-mayors, vice-governors, Board members etc. Business suit seemed like a suitable attire for this event and not our casual “blogger” wear during blogger or new media events. Dine and I laughed because Wikipilipinas.org staff barely recognized her.
Today, the local women leaders converged at the Manila Hotel to learn how technology is used in Uplifting the Image of the Filipina (via FilipinaImages.com) through blogging and being part of a collaborative effort of all the bloggers who believe that The Filipina of the Future deserves a more empowered, diverse image online. They also got a chance to learn how to use the WikiPilipinas.Org site as well. Blogging and Wiki! I hope the women leaders didn’t reach saturation level.
Here is my speech lovingly written by my sister Lorna so she would be present (in spirit) at the event. As you know, Lorna is a co-founder of FilipinaImages.com together with Dine.
FilipinaImages.com IS a movement to achieve social change. We fulfill a need that we did not know existed. The proof is in the tremendous growth and progress we have made in having more contributors join us. They provide fresh stories and insights for us to reflect on — and to celebrate.
I hoped the local women leaders learned from our little speech. At the very least, they know that it is possible to use technology for advocacy.

Come to think of it, during our mothers time, in their 50s, they didn’t look as young, noh? Oh well, it’s the grooming, I believe. They were pretty conservative back then.
