Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort Bloggers’ Event is SEO

One of my son’s favorite prayers was “Footprints In the Sand” although not exactly a prayer. He understood the message from the passages and looked forward to playing footprints in Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort as our family flew to Cebu on May 27, 2000. On that brilliant day in May just an hour before his death, Luijoe’s laughter rang out in the salty air as he pressed his feet on the powder-white sands of the beach, leaving a trail of tiny footprints.

Mom, stomp your feet on the sand. Let’s place our footprints in the sand..

Yes, we walked under pristine blue skies but that was the last time we strolled along the beach.

Today, dozen of footprints from Cebu bloggers will leave a trail in this lovely beach resort. The PR man behind Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort who is also a member of the Cebu Bloggers Society initiated a Summer Blowout promo. The bloggers will get to visit the resort for free, dip in its white sand beach and dine at Maribago Bluewater’s Allegro Restaurant’s all-time favorite BARRIO FIESTA with a lively 45-minute cultural presentation.

The summer blowout is not entirely free but merely a creative ex-deal. One must link to their main site and their blog to get an invite with the anchor text Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort which makes it two links. Now, let me see. As far as I know, a text link can cost anywhere from as low as $10 to as high as $50 a month. Of course, if the blogger removes the link after the event, he gets his money’s worth. A regular visitor needs to pay an entrance fee and pay their lunch so I think at the most, the cost per blogger is around 3,000 pesos or roughly $60 since it is not an overnight event. But if the anchor text stays for the lifetime of the blog, then it is to the advantage of the beach resort. (Come to think of it, Bluewater Day Spa is just as guilty as Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort on creative SEO. Excuse me while I remove their links now).

This is a very creative way to do a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for their beach resort. What can SEO do when even Tourism Secretary Ace Durano remembers my son’s death at Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort on that fateful day? It was the first thing Ace told me during the blogger’s event on Department of Tourism (DOT) and MTV plans for 2009.

ace durano

No one has forgotten even if it happened 9 years ago.

No matter what Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort does…hiring the best PR agency in the country or enticing bloggers to write about them, it does not change the fact that my son died at their beach resort.

I wish nothing but a day of fun for my fellow Cebuano Bloggers and told a few to whisper a prayer for me.

One day, I shall return to the beach resort , walk along the sandy shore hoping to catch the footprints of my son.

I was gonna go there but was not allowed, and you know what, when you told me:

“First time ko to hear that you HAVE to blog about an event to be part of it”

It actually made me doubt this event.. but I don’t know, I’ll get feedbacks from fellow CBS members when they go there.

actually I now recall that Bluewater Day Spa (wow same first name) did two contests in the past to write a blog entry and to link to that entry… but it did not guarantee a slot. In this case, almost everyone who links back can attend the event.

How come you were not allowed? One day event lang naman eh.

This is admirable persistence. If you will let me make an observation. The Youtube song matches your progress emotion-wise. I’d love for you to win big (though I’m not privy to the circumstances then) and maybe become part owner of that resort. Just imagine what kind of tribute you could come up when you’re owner.

:( Reading this entry makes me sad and guilty at the same time. I was part of that Maribago event for bloggers and we had fun honestly. But I can feel how painful this is for you. And I feel guilty for writing about Maribago (even my most recent post is about them). :(

I know you are strong Ms. Noemi. God bless! :)

I really don’t know what happened to your son, and I definitely feel sorry for your loss, but there’s only one thing I’m sure of. I enjoyed the summer blow out which was headed by Maribago’s PR manager (who happens to be a member of CBS). The incident happened 9 years ago, and I think Maribago Bluewater have all the rights to keep their business going because they have lots of employees. These people have families to feed and they have to work for their daily living. If the resort management won’t do anything about that problem caused by that incident, then I guess lots of Cebuanos will go jobless. And that’s something most people don’t think about. It’s because they are just focusing on their own misery.

Yes I know the PR is headed by one of your Cebuano bloggers. Kevin told me. THe blogger is just doing his job.

You don’t know anything about our case or the incident so don’t you dare insinuate that people will lose their jobs in Maribago ? You don’t know anything about Maribago except their press releases to you.

Get back here when you get your facts straightened.

and even if I didn’t write the name of the beach resort, it was all over the newspapers in Cebu. Even Secretary Ace Durano knew about the incident.

Everyone in Cebu knew about it . Word of mouth gets around you know? My father was a well known civic leader and was even at their beach resort during the inauguration.

Cebu is small. People know what is happening.

If you want to help Maribago, keep going there and write about your wonderful experience, Visit it by paying your way and not as a FREEBIE through an event. Then your testimonial will be more credible.

I just can’t imagine how painful and sad it is to lose a son. We’ve met you and heard about the story but reading this post and your other related posts on this is makes me teary eyed. I don’t know what happened exactly but I hope justice will be served.
