It is so unfortunate that the National Council for Children's Television was not able to attend this undertaking due to unawareness that such a government agency exists. Yes, despite and inspite of the alarming situation of children's television in the Philippines, there is a mandated agency implementing the RA 8370 or the Children's Television Act.

Recently, NCCT launched its flagship program called BANTAY TV (TV Watch) which aims to create a children's television programming that contributes to the shaping of positive culture, values and behavior among Filipino children.

Now, we can report undersirable tv events such as exploitation, vulgarity, discrimination, sex and violence aired from 6am to 10pm thru SMS, Hotline and internet.

To report via SMS : text BANTAYTV(space)FEEDBACK(Space)MESSAGE send to 700-6228(NCCT) . Available to all SMART subscribers.

To report via telephone : call NCCT Hotline at 637-2306 (Mon-Fri, 8am to 5pm)

To report via email : bantaytv@ncctph.org

We will forward your complaints to the concerned agencies such as MTRCB, PANA and KBP. You will be informed every step of the way.

You can visit our website at www.ncctph.org

Let's all watch carefully.

If it wasn't bacause of Tv cartoon channels children wouldn't be so much glued to the screens. There is something disturbing going on in all these cartoons. I advise parents to realy pay attention to what they allow to feed the minds of their children with.

TV is still king here in the Philippines because almost every household, from all social classes have one at home. So the use of the internet is really trumped by that one.

Studies like this are done by the company to maximize profit and adjust according to their target market preferences. Because seriously, why would they want to know about kids' "lifestyle , opinions and behavior"? :P

At the end of the day, it's still all about money. Never mind that kids today still enjoy the cell-shaded, pink-ribbon wearing little girls who show nothing but violence, right in kindergarten!
