Now I don’t know if their website got hacked or the webmaster purposely placed earthworm hamburger keywords . Whatever for? When I told my girls, they nearly puked .

    Hi Noemi:
    I have worked with Jollibee for over two years(way back in the ’80s) and at the time I was there the earthworm rumors started. I can assure you(altho I am not a Jollibee fan) that none of it is true. Earthworm meat is soooo expensive and very hard to source. In Jollibee during that time(about 20 years ago) the recipe of the meat pattie was in the hands of only one man and he was the only one who knew the ingredients of the meat patty and chicken joy.He was a pioneer and trusted employee. Now that there is a Commissary VP Ms. Belen Rillo who was my UP professor in Food Technology ,more so this rumor is still a rumor and could never be true(knowing Ms Rillo she wouldnt even think of it).

    Despite the fact that I’ve only had Jollibee once, during a vacation back to the good ‘ol Philippines, the only thing I really hated about them was the fact that they put sweet pickles on top of the burgers. Eww.

    We used to supply meat for 3 jollibee branches back then. The rumour is definitely NOT true. And like what betty lopez said, according to my dad, earthworm is expensive.

    As for the meta word used, people still prolly ask about that so the webmaster thought it might bring them more traffic. probably.

    It is just a SEO tactic (Search Engine Optimization). Its a marketing tactic, and they’re trying to reverse the effects of the rumors by gathering more and more traffic in their website by adding the keywords such as earthworm meat, patties etc. etc.

    McDonalds does this all over the world to their competitors. Its called viral marketing.
    Theres weird gross stories that spread about almost every fast food place in America except… You guessed it McDonalds. Doesnt take too much brain power to figure out who is spreading these rumors.

    It’s my dad! The one you referred to as the only person who knew the formula. He’s the “Formula Man.” It’s his formula. But he didnt get rich from giving his burger formula to the patriach of JFC.

    Either way, it’s clean and damn delicious. We Filipinos have weirder food just right down the sidewalk. The only thing I find strange is I burp a lot after eating their burgers and hours later I can still smell it like I just ate it.
