The 2008 Philippine Blog Awards is still very much alive. The committee is moving the event to July 2008 because of two things: the first is because we’re still looking for an available venue that can accommodate a lot of people at a good price and second, because we’re waiting for the incorporation papers. The incorporation is crucial because receipts are needed for our sponsors. Also, a new set of officers will take place because of the incorporation. Hopefully, all the legal papers will be ready by end of April. *cross fingers*

Thirty Years and Still in Love

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

When my ex-boyfriend swept me off my feet 30 years ago, it happened at the UP sunken garden just before sunset. I screamed in delight as Butch kept twirling me around and around. Put me down now. I wanted it to last forever but a crowd of onlookers oogling at us from a distance brought us back to reality. We had no shame. Truly, madly, deeply in love. We were optimistic that whatever flaws we had could easily be worked out. Such an idealistic thought. A friend told me that the thing I loved most from my boyfriend is the thing that I’d hate about him when I get married.

Is it true?

Hope Inside the Box

I first met Bill on December 20, 2006 through his blog entries of Anne Sherina. His pain is all too familiar. For most bereaved parents I know, not being able to touch, to hold, to embrace our child is the most painful reality we have to face. The emptiness of our arms, the indescribable longing to have those arms filled again with our precious child, are almost more than we can bear.

An exchange of text messages, emails and instant messaging kept us in touch for the past year until a few days ago, a pleasant surprise through a scanned newspaper clipping awaited in my inbox.

The black “Yan ang Filipina” shirt customized by wikipilipinas refused to fit me. I felt like a “suman”. So I ditched that and wore something that won’t make me look ten pounds heavier on TV. I had to drag my lethargic body at 6:00 AM thinking the She-Ka TV magazine (aired over NBN 4) was at 7:00 AM. At the last minute, the show was pushed to 8:00 AM. It was worth it.

Skin-Deep, A Review

I suck at writing reviews so my dear husband wrote the following review on Skin Deep, a musical comedy that dissects the idea of beauty. I hope you watch Skin-Deep. Not only is it entertaining but you will help the Section of Dermatology of St Luke’s Medical Center, Philippine Leprosy Mission and Surok Uni Foundation. The title was therefore apropos, as these are groups who are at the forefront of the battle against the dreaded nerve and skin disease. Moving on….the review of PETA Theater’s Skin-Deep.

My sister-in-law (Belen L. Dofitas), a famous dermatologist urged us to watch so we could help raise funds for her project, the Philippine Leprosy Mission.
