Twenty two years ago, I was 8 months pregnant with my eldest daughter, Lauren. There was no way for me to join my husband and brother in EDSA People Power. My huge belly would be squashed with the millions of people. I felt so left out.
How hopeful I was that our country would prosper under a democratic government. When I heard the inauguration of Cory Aquino over the radio, my heart leaped with joy and so did Lauren as she tumbled inside my womb. I thought my baby was excited at the thought of a new government.
So much hope for a better future for my daughter. Lauren was born exactly a month later on March 25, the ““Freedom Constitution day”.
So many confusing messages circulate these days to manipulate the opinion of the people . There is the YouTube video on Lozada, Crying Babies then today, I receive a text message with Jun Lozada‘s cellphone number so I can text him and ask about the truth on the so-called Patriotic Fund that Sen. Jamby Madrigal allegedly paid so he could lie.
One thing is certain, I also seek the truth.
As a little girl, I often thought adults talked too seriously. I figured in my little girl’s mind that it must be boring to be all grown-up. When mom’s friends converged at our home for afternoon chit-chat, the conversations revolved around gardening, orchids, roses, baking and other household matters. I am sure they had fun too.

[tag]Psycho killer in Rizal[/tag] on the loose? I didn’t really think much about it until …Diding, our household helper arrived home after walking the dog. Her worried look was painted all over her face. Maam, is it true there is a psycho killer? While walking the dog at around 6:00 PM, a concerned neighbor urged her to go back home because it was getting dark. Diding laughed. The neighbor berated her and added Don’t say I didn’t warn you about the serial killer. There are eight of them now.

I was watching Gina de Venecia interview on “Strictly Politics” where she called the President’s sons — Pampanga Representative Juan Miguel Arroyo and Camarines Sur Representative Diosdado Macapagal-Arroyo as Spoiled Brats. Gina de Venecia said “the Arroyo children in the House are ““drunk with power,” and that the move to remove her husband was not done out of national interest.” They were instrumental in removing her husband, a vendetta for their son’s Senate testimony linking Jose Miguel ““Mike” Arroyo – their father – to the controversial national broadband deal with the Chinese firm ZTE Corp.
Were they acting as spoiled brats? or as loving sons to their mom and dad? Then I remembered my kids reaction the night of ex-speaker Jose de Venecia’s (JDV) impassioned speech.
Upon learning that the two sons played a part of the JDV’s exit, my girls pretended to have that the spoiled brat attitude , Oh daddy, can you buy me an island?
Blood is thicker than water, said my husband.
It may have been understood that JDV knew of his son’s plan to expose the ZTE broadband deal and didn’t stop his son.
[tag]Andrew Olmsted[/tag], also known as G’Kar the blogger, was killed yesterday in Iraq. Andy gave a friend a post to publish in the event of his death; the last revisions to it were made in July. Here is Andy’s final post. His actual blog is here. Andy must have known of his imminent death since he prepared his final post last July. Losing someone who can write well from the dreaded war zone is a tremendous loss – most people never get the chance to know how, when, and where they might probably die. Andrew knew death was a possible outcome enough to write this last post . For me, some of the most insightful parts are the following: (The quotes are from Andy and my comments are below it.)
It’s not easy asking anyone to do something for you in the event of your death, and it is a testament to her quality that she didn’t hesitate to accept the charge. As with many bloggers, I have a disgustingly large ego, and so I just couldn’t bear the thought of not being able to have the last word if the need arose.
I would never ask anyone to post a final post for me. I know we will all die eventually. I guess if you’re a blogger and based in Iraq, death is a big possibility. It was Andy’s way of immortalizing his life through this last post.

A strong earthquake hit Manila at around 12:27 PM, November 27, 2007. It lasted around 5 seconds or so but it was strong. At the second floor of my home, I could see the hanging lights sway. Feeling like the world was going to collapse, I yelled at Lauren who happened to be at the phone oblivious to the earth rocking to and fro. I kept yelling “earthquake” but no she ignored me and continued yakking on the phone. Oh and as I was getting dizzy, I could hear a barrage of text message alerts spewing out of my cellphone . AJ Matela , Jeff , Marhgil and others were twittering (Aka micro-blogging) live as the earthquake shook Metro Manila.
